Security, stability and safety don’t exist.

“Security, stability and safety don’t exist.  You think they do but they do not.  It’s something made up in your mind or it was a story, a fairytale, someone told you.  Probably someone you trust implicitly.  And you chose to believe them because it felt good.”  (here’s the full post)

I wrote this a couple of months ago.  It was part of my first blog.  I’ve written a blog every weekday since that first one.  I wanted to bring up this section of that blog post because I believe this theme should be discussed a little bit more.

What if these guys walk away?

Recently in the news here in my home State the new Governor has proposed a huge cut to the State budget.  We are millions and millions of dollars in debt here in Michigan.  He didn’t bring a scalpel to the table he brought a wood chipper.  Everything is on the chopping block.

Similar issues are happening in Wisconsin, Nevada, California and several other states.  Not only are States looking to cut budgets but it would seem that the Federal budget could also get slashed as well.  The people of those States are in an uproar over proposed cuts to services.

They believed that security, stability and safety existed in their lives.  This is their wake up call.

The only person you can rely on is yourself.  You cannot rely on your State or the Federal Government.  These bodies are too far removed from your actual life.

Work towards getting away from reliance on the government.  For some that might mean to stop using student loans to pay for a degree that they can’t afford.  For some that may be  relying on certain interest rates to buy a car or home that is out of reach.  Take your life back before it’s taken from you.  Maybe it’s time for you to take a leap of faith and start your own business.  Yes, it’s risky but so is waiting around for some far off group to decide your fate.

Rely on yourself and your spirit of helping others. Then people create the dynamic sharing that government cannot!

    Interesting post Matt. Thought provoking.
    Have a super day.

    Kate,

I’m glad you “got it”. I just want people to take stock of their own situation and hope that they can be empowered to take their lives back.

I have friends and family who are stressed out because local, state and federal governments are changing what they though were “the rules”. Businesses and governments can change the rules. It always happens. Just be ready for the change.

      Great follow up post Matt!

When it comes to government services I think most folks have family or friends who are “stressed” about the possible new “rules”… I agree they need to get the confidence in themselves and take “leap of faith” into their own business.

    Cindy,

I’ve talked with a few friends recently and they are pretty upset about some State and Federal cuts. I try to steer the discussion towards there own skills and how they could slowly build side business.

You’d be surprised how cheap and relatively risk free it would be to start something up these days. Free web sites, You Tube instructional videos, ebay, skype, pages of how-to blogs and online experts to bounce ideas off of.

All of that is pretty free. The only thing they really have to fear is… eventual success.
